LPG Endermologie is a non-invasive mechanical massage treatment developed in France, designed to stimulate the skin and underlying tissue using a motorised handpiece with rolling heads and suction. It requires no needles, no surgery, and no downtime. Clients at our Beaumaris clinic typically come in for a 50-minute session, wear a thin full-body suit, and leave feeling like they’ve had a deep-tissue massage. Over a course of sessions, many notice improvement in skin texture, body contour, and the appearance of cellulite.
That is the short answer. If you want to understand how it actually works and whether it is the right fit for you, read on.
Where Did LPG Endermologie Come From?
In the early 1980s, a French engineer named Louis-Paul Guitay was recovering from a severe car accident. He developed a mechanical massage device to help with his own scar tissue and skin stiffness. The results led him to found LPG Systems, based in Valence, France — and the technology he created eventually became what is now called LPG® Endermologie®.
The company has since registered the technology with health authorities in France and developed a peer-reviewed body of research on how mechanical stimulation affects the skin and connective tissue. LPG Systems reports the treatment is now used in clinics across more than 110 countries.
It is worth knowing this history because it explains something important: LPG Endermologie is not a trend or a rebadged spa treatment. It has decades of clinical development behind it, a specific mechanism of action, and a consistent delivery method that is the same whether you’re in Beaumaris or Paris.
How Does the Treatment Actually Work?
The LPG handpiece has two motorised rollers that work simultaneously with suction to lift the skin into a fold and roll it in a controlled motion. This mechanical action targets the skin and the layer of connective tissue directly beneath it.
Two things happen as a result.
First, the mechanical stimulation activates fibroblast cells. Fibroblasts are the cells in your skin responsible for producing collagen and elastin — the proteins that give skin its firmness and elasticity. As we age, fibroblast activity slows. Mechanical stimulation from the LPG handpiece prompts them to become more active again. Over a course of treatments, clients often notice that skin texture feels firmer and looks smoother.
Second, the rolling and suction action stimulates fat cells in the targeted area. LPG Systems research indicates that this encourages the fat cells to release stored lipids — a process called lipolysis — which the body then metabolises. This is part of why the treatment is used for body contouring as well as skin texture improvement.
None of this involves heat, electricity, or injections. The handpiece is mechanical. That is the point.
But the technology is only part of it. Every client’s body responds at its own rhythm — the same clinically backed mechanism produces different timelines depending on skin history, lifestyle, and individual biology.
One more thing worth explaining: the bodysuit. Every client wears a thin, full-body suit (we provide it) during treatment. This is not just for hygiene, though hygiene is part of it. The suit allows the handpiece to glide smoothly across the skin and maintain consistent suction. Without it, the rolling action would pull at the skin unevenly and the treatment would be far less effective.
What Does a Session Feel Like?
Most clients describe it as a deep, warm massage. The sensation varies depending on the area being treated — some spots are more sensitive than others — but the overall experience is not painful.
In 8+ years of performing this treatment at Bayside Endermologie, Kristina has found that most clients are surprised by how comfortable it is. The word she hears most often afterward is “relaxed.”
The handpiece moves continuously across the skin in slow, deliberate passes. There is no sharp sensation, no heat, no tingling. Areas with denser connective tissue (the outer thighs, for instance) may feel more intense than others, but intense is not the same as painful.
Sessions run for 50 minutes. You can return to normal activity immediately afterward. There is no redness, no swelling, and no recovery period.
What Results Can You Realistically Expect?
This is the question worth being honest about.
LPG Endermologie is not a weight-loss treatment. It does not remove fat cells or permanently change body composition on its own. What it does do — and what our clients consistently notice — is something far more powerful: a visible improvement in skin quality, cellulite appearance, and body contour through a gradual, cumulative process.
With a full course of treatments, many clients experience:
- Smoother, firmer-looking skin
- Reduced appearance of cellulite
- Improved lymphatic flow and reduced fluid retention
- A lighter, less “heavy” feeling in the body
- More defined and refined body contours
Results are enhanced when combined with hydration and regular movement. As with any treatment, results vary depending on factors such as skin condition, age, lifestyle, and consistency of sessions.
Results vary between individuals. Factors that influence what you’ll notice include skin type, age, baseline skin laxity, lifestyle habits, and how consistently you attend sessions.
That said, here is what Kristina typically observes in clients who complete a full course:
- After 6 to 8 sessions, many clients notice the skin feels firmer to the touch and looks smoother in certain lighting
- After 10 to 14 sessions, visible improvement in the appearance of cellulite is common — particularly in areas like the outer thighs, hips, and abdomen
- With monthly maintenance sessions, these results can be sustained over time
Results are cumulative: skipping sessions or stopping early significantly reduces the benefit. This is not a one-off treatment. Think of it like physiotherapy — the sessions build on each other.
We do not make absolute outcome claims, because no two clients are identical. What we can tell you is that the treatment has a clear biological mechanism, a long clinical track record, and a strong result pattern in the clients we see at the clinic each week.
Who Is LPG Endermologie Best Suited For?
This treatment works well for clients who:
- Want to reduce the appearance of cellulite without surgery or injections
- Are looking to improve skin texture and firmness in specific areas
- Are already living a reasonably healthy lifestyle and want their skin to reflect that
- Are managing post-weight-loss skin tone and laxity
- Want something that complements other treatments (we often use LPG alongside TESLAFormer muscle toning for clients focused on overall body contour)
This space is open to everyone. LPG Endermologie is used by women, men, and people of all genders who want to feel more confident and comfortable in their body. Beauty, strength, and confidence aren’t gendered.
It is not a replacement for nutrition or exercise. Kristina is direct with clients about this from the first consultation: LPG works best as part of a broader, individually tailored approach to how you feel in your body, not as a standalone shortcut.
LPG Endermologie is generally not suitable for people with:
- Active cancer or a history of cancer that has not been cleared by a specialist
- Skin infections, open wounds, or active inflammation in the treatment area
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or blood clotting conditions
- Pregnancy
If you have a health condition you are not sure about, the best thing to do is mention it when you book your consultation. Kristina will go through your health history before any treatment begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sessions do I need to see results?
Most clients need 10 to 14 sessions for meaningful visible change. Some notice a difference after 6 to 8. The exact number depends on the area being treated, your baseline skin condition, and how your body responds. After an initial course, most clients come in once a month to maintain results. Kristina will give you a clear recommendation after your consultation — she will not push you into more sessions than your situation calls for.
Is LPG Endermologie painful?
No. The sensation is firm, like a deep-tissue massage, but not painful. Some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, and Kristina adjusts the pressure accordingly. If anything feels uncomfortable during a session, she can modify the handpiece settings on the spot.
How is it different from a regular massage?
A regular massage is performed by a therapist’s hands and primarily affects muscle and surface tissue tension. LPG Endermologie uses a mechanical device with precise, controlled rolling and suction to target the connective tissue and skin layers. The mechanism of action is different, as is the intended result. A remedial massage is about muscle relaxation; LPG targets the skin architecture itself.
Can I have LPG Endermologie if I am pregnant or have a health condition?
Not during pregnancy. If you have a health condition — cardiovascular issues, a history of cancer, a clotting disorder, or skin conditions in the treatment area — please let us know when you book. Some conditions are absolute contraindications; others just require a slight modification to the treatment plan. We would rather ask a few questions upfront than have you drive to Beaumaris unnecessarily.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for a session?
Come hydrated — not just for the day of treatment, but as a general habit. LPG Endermologie stimulates the body’s own metabolic processes, and good hydration supports that. Wear comfortable clothing you can change out of easily. We provide the bodysuit.
